- Description:
- Xearth sets the X root window to an image of the Earth, as
seen from your favorite vantage point in space, correctly
shaded for the current position of the Sun. By default,
xearth updates the displayed image every five minutes. The
time between updates can be changed with the -wait option.
Xearth can also render directly into PPM and GIF files
instead of drawing in the root window.
There are three additional marker files installed in
/usr/local/lib/X11/xearth which specify the locations of
various FreeBSD people and places:

freebsd.submitters.markers - FreeBSD submitters
freebsd.ftp.markers - FreeBSD FTP mirrors

Specify location accurately enough for Google Maps.
This appears to require 5 digits after the decimal point. Specifying
6 would pinpoint the location to about 11 cm in a north/south
direction and about 8 in east/wast, which is too specific for moving
beings.

I think I'm technically still in Ottawa. They call it Nepean,
but it was incorporated into Ottawa about 5 years ago.
There must be a better way to find my location. I had to use
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/latlong.adp
and keep changing values until it came out as my exact location.
