More robust -pthread hack obtained from dfports.

Tested with:    full build of x11/gnome2 and x11/kde3

Add a patch to support gnome 2.10 sharedlib version.
Patch made by ahze limited testing done by me.

Obtained from:  libtool cvs.

Autotools cleanup.  Remove autoconf257 (259), automake17 (18), and
libtool14 (13/15).
