Let's look at these two URLs now. You will notice that both pages contain "gnomemeeting2 0.96.1 / net" and "Also listed in: gnome".
Now compare that to the following mock-ups:

In the first mock up, you'll see that net has been replaced by gnome, which has been suffixed by a * to indicate that it is a virtual category. Links to the "files touched by this commit" also have gnome in their path.
In the second mockup, you'll see something new: Physical category. This will appear when you are viewing a port in a virtual category and will point to the actual category within the source tree that the port is located in.
Now is a good time for people to make suggestions/comment regarding the above idea. Someone must have a better idea!
Other things to consider: the Search function does not search virtual categories.
