Hi,
I use freshports daily and love it :)
Here are three things that would make it even better:
1. A knob with which one can collapse parts of a site. Look at http://www.bsdforen.de/ , in the right corner of every "field" you can collapse it.
2. Is there a way to control the timezone for the displayed times?
3. What about a knob for reporting security issues for a port? I think of a knob which everyone can press, and a backend where for example the security officer can look what ports where most reported. Than he can act accordingly and reset the counter.
Opinions?

This is very close. Look at http://beta.freshports.org/search.php for an example. Also visible on Broken, Deprecated, Ignore, Forbidden, New, and Deleted. Please visit/test.
I still need to work on expanding this to the other pages.

A few months ago, I experimented with using UTC within the database. I haven't implemented it. That would then allow you to specify a time zone adjustment value. That might do it. At least, having UTC everywhere might help.

What about the freebsd-security mailing list? Also, the freebsd-vuxml mailing list. They exist. I think they should be used instead.

Look at http://www.freshports.org/x11/kde3/ for example. There is a long "Notes" section. This section doesn't interest me, almost never. It would be fine for me, if I could collapse it and freshports saves that I don't want to see any "Notes" section.
But it's not necessary, if you don't like it, don't do it :)

Yes, thats another way. But I know many people who are too lazy to write an email to such a list. This would be sort of a community thing. And I think it is much more easy to click one button than write an email.

You're right. The feature does not appeal to me.
As for the Notes section: it usually contains information vital to avoid upgrade problems.
