 XFree86-4-server port problem
Author: Joel Campbell

Hi,
I am trying to install KDE3.1 using portupgrade. When I do portupgrade -R kde it first tries to upgrade XFree86-4-Server. This fails with the following:

/usr/X11R6/lib/libXaw.so: warning: tmpnam() possibly used unsafely; consider using mkstemp()
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so: undefined reference to `pthread_cond_signal'
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXThrStub.so.6: undefined reference to `_Xthr_zero_stub_'
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so: undefined reference to `pthread_cond_broadcast'
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXThrStub.so.6: undefined reference to `_Xthr_self_stub_'
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so: undefined reference to `pthread_cond_init'
/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so: undefined reference to `pthread_mutex_unlock'

! x11-servers/XFree86-4-Server (XFree86-Server-4.2.1_6) (install error)

This causes the whole upgrade to fail. I also have had trouble installing/upgrading other packages that rely on X as well (gkrellm2, xine). I have looked through the forums and can't find anyone else having the same issue. I have experienced this on two different machines as well.

Setup 1:
FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE
Athlon XP 1600+
512MB RAM
20GB HDD
GeForce4 4200 Video Card (using stock nv driver.. can't get the nVidia drivers to work

Setup 2
FreeBSD 4.5-RELEASE
Duron 800
256MB RAM
20GB HDD
3dfx Voodoo Banshee Video Card

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss. I have googled the error messages to no avail either.

Thanks,
Joel
