CUPS provides a portable printing layer for UNIX-based operating
systems. It has been developed by Easy Software Products to promote a
standard printing solution for all UNIX vendors and users. 

CUPS uses the Internet Printing Protocol ("IPP") as the basis for
managing print jobs and queues. The Line Printer Daemon ("LPD") Server
Message Block ("SMB"), and AppSocket (a.k.a. JetDirect) protocols are
also supported with reduced functionality. CUPS adds network printer
browsing and PostScript Printer Description ("PPD") based printing
options to support real-world printing under UNIX.

CUPS provides the System V and Berkeley command-line interfaces.

CUPS also supports a customized version of GNU Ghostscript (currently based
off GNU Ghostscript 5.50) and an image file RIP that are used to support
non-PostScript printers. Sample drivers for HP and EPSON printers are included
that use these filters. This software is available in the cups-pstoraster
port.

Chase gnutls update.

Just using --enable-gnutls doesn't seem to be sufficient for cups-base
to choose it in favour of the base openssl.
This kills cups-printing from inside firefox/mozilla.
Adding --disable-openssl seems to solve this.

At Kris's request, back out the MACHINE_ARCH spelling correction until
after 5.4-RELEASE.

Assist getting more ports working on AMD64 by obeying the
Ports Collection documentation and use 'ARCH' rather than 'MACHINE_ARCH'.

latest version. While I'm here, make pkg-message print the
actual prefix when the port is installed, and a nicer message
for package installs.

This version of the software also includes 'es' man pages to

Remove the part about installing the cups-lpr port because the
meta-port already does.

This is a new file. It is not used yet, and is still in a state of
development for the upgrade to 1.1.16. Remote CVS makes a nice backup
system, though. 8-)

This is a new file. It will eventually replace Makefile.inc, which will then be
taken out back, shot, and fed to the 'raptors. In the meantime, I'm done with
working on this port for tonight, and so CVS is my offsite backup system.

Committed last 2 files upgrade, that would not commit for some reason.

correctly permissions wise.   3) Bump PORTREVISION to acknowledge #2.    

Break out the CUPS port into two parts: cups-base (libraries only) and  
cups-lpr (LP* replacement).  This is done to avoid clashing LPR systems   but
still allow programs to compile with CUPS support.  This is essential   for the
upcoming KDE 2.2.2 upgrade.
