- Please welcome Xorg 7.5.2 The Xorg Team is pleased to announce the next round of Xorg updates. The team created a new flag called WITH_NEW_XORG that users can include in /etc/make.conf. This was created for the intel KMS work being done althouthough It probably works for other chips. Unfortunately, the intel KMS driver will only work on FreeBSD 9(RELENG|STABLE) or 10/HEAD users. Older version of FreeBSD will not be supported. Intel users will need to patch their source manually with Konstantin?s KMS kernel patch to get the newer chips to work. - Please welcome Xorg 7.5.1 The X-Server has been patched to the latest 1.7.X series, drivers and fonts have been updated to the latest versions. This update includes some components from Xorg 7.6 with a lot of improvements, and it seems that the performance is much better than the old version. Also this Update fix build issues with clang and binutils 2.17.50 in current, remove 6.X gruft and de-author pkg-descr. - Update to Xorg 7.5 The Intel drivers was patched to work with the new server. The drivers for Vesa, NV,NVIDIA and ATI have been tested thoroughfully and seem to work fine. - Update X.org ports to 7.4+ (few ports are more recent than the katamari). - Bump PORTREVISION for all ports depending on libglut since the shlib version number went from 4 to 3. - Bump PORTREVISION for all ports depending on libXaw as libXaw.so.8 isn't installed anymore. - Couple of ports fixes (mostly missing xorg components added to USE_XORG).

Mass-conversion to the USE_AUTOTOOLS New World Order. The code present in bsd.autotools.mk essentially makes this a no-op given that all the old variables set a USE_AUTOTOOLS_COMPAT variable, which is parsed in exactly the same way as USE_AUTOTOOLS itself. Moreover, USE_AUTOTOOLS has already been extensively tested by the GNOME team -- all GNOME 2.12.x ports use it. Preliminary documentation can be found at: http://people.FreeBSD.org/~ade/autotools.txt which is in the process of being SGMLized before introduction into the Porters Handbook. Begin autotools sanitization sequence by requiring ports to explicitly specify which version of {libtool,autoconf,automake} they need, erasing the concept of a "system default". For ports-in-waiting: USE_LIBTOOL=YES -> USE_LIBTOOL_VER=13 USE_AUTOCONF=YES -> USE_AUTOCONF_VER=213 USE_AUTOMAKE=YES -> USE_AUTOMAKE_VER=14 Ports attempting to use the old style system after June 1st 2004 will be sorely disappointed.
