- Remove unneeded dependency from gtk12/gtk20 [1]

- Remove X11BASE support in favor of LOCALBASE or PREFIX

Support X11-less installation. One sample executable -- xep -- will not
be built/installed. Add a missing backslash at EOL -- a fresh typo.
Remove a non-existing directory from CFLAGS -- a three year old typo.
