 Gentoo portage for FreeBSD

Not sure if you all know about gentoo's "portage" ports system. Anyway it seems they have a project ( )going where they have ported their portage system to *BSD.

Now that there are 3 variants of the ports system out for FreeBSD, its a bit of a waste to have 2, 3rd party ports out.
Why not merge with Gentoo's portage, or at least collaborate with them and get a whole lot of ports more in a universal joint ports system?

Would be good :)
There is quite a few stuff from portage that ports do not have and visa versa.
