Why was the website so slow for so long?

The cause of the slowdown was a change to the ZFS dataset. In conjunction with the database server, very little caching was being done. This combination resulted in increased disk I/O as the system churned through the database. Details in the blog post which outlines the various things which changed. Many graphs.

Mark audio/squeezecenter-* ports as expired. They have been replaced by
the audio/squeezeboxserver-* ports. Expiration date in line with the
date set for audio/squeezecenter.

This is a SqueezeCenter plugin to add lazy search capabilities. Lazy
searching allows for much faster entry of search text by allowing you
to forget about multi-tapping and instead just press each of the
remote control buttons once for each of the letters in the text,
whatever position the letter appears in above the button.
