This program allows you to record the output of any standard OSS
program (one that uses /dev/dsp for sound) without having to modify or
recompile the program. It uses the same idea as the esddsp wrapper
from the Enlightened Sound Daemon (in fact, vsound is based on
esddsp). That is, it preloads a library that intercepts calls to open
/dev/dsp, and instead returns a handle to a normal file. It also
intercepts ioctl's on that file handle and logs them, to help convert
the audio data from its raw form. Vsound then uses sox to convert the
raw data to the desired file format.
The upshoot of this is that instead of playing sound to the sound card
in your computer, the data is recorded to a file. This is similar to
if you connected a loopback cable to the line in and line out jacks on
your sound card, but no DA or AD conversions take place, so quality is
not lost.

Mk/Uses/alias.mk was an attempt for compat with DPorts, but has rotted.
This feature was never documented in the PHB, so there is no work to
be done by the docs@ team.
Nothing against DragonFly, but if DPorts still needs FreeBSD 9
support, they really should work that out with upstream projects.
Ultimately, we don't need to keep carrying this outdated feature that
doesn't affect us.
audio/vsound: undeprecate the port and assume its maintainership
Refresh the mirror list, point WWW to the archived website copy,
and remove useless empty line added in the previous commit.

Remove WWW entries moved into port Makefiles
Commit b7f05445c00f has added WWW entries to port Makefiles based on
WWW: lines in pkg-descr files.
This commit removes the WWW: lines of moved-over URLs from these
pkg-descr files.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles
It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.
Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.
There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.

Add OPTIONS_DEFINE=DOCS for ports with %%PORTDOCS%% in the plist.
Where possible, correct a few instances where PORTDOCS was being used
to flag stuff in EXAMPLESDIR. For some ports, mostly those owned by
ruby@, PORTDOCS is applied to pretty much everything whether it's
documentation or example.
-Repocopy devel/libtool15 -> libtool22 and libltdl15 -> libltdl22.
-Update libtool and libltdl to 2.2.6a.
-Remove devel/libtool15 and devel/libltdl15.
-Fix ports build with libtool22/libltdl22.
-Bump ports that depend on libltdl22 due to shared library version change.
-Explain what to do update in the UPDATING.
It has been tested with GNOME2, XFCE4, KDE3, KDE4 and other many wm/desktop
and applications in the runtime.

Mass-conversion to the USE_AUTOTOOLS New World Order. The code present
in bsd.autotools.mk essentially makes this a no-op given that all the
old variables set a USE_AUTOTOOLS_COMPAT variable, which is parsed in
exactly the same way as USE_AUTOTOOLS itself.
Moreover, USE_AUTOTOOLS has already been extensively tested by the GNOME
team -- all GNOME 2.12.x ports use it.

Begin autotools sanitization sequence by requiring ports to explicitly
specify which version of {libtool,autoconf,automake} they need, erasing
the concept of a "system default".
For ports-in-waiting:
USE_LIBTOOL=YES -> USE_LIBTOOL_VER=13
USE_AUTOCONF=YES -> USE_AUTOCONF_VER=213
USE_AUTOMAKE=YES -> USE_AUTOMAKE_VER=14
Ports attempting to use the old style system after June 1st 2004 will be
sorely disappointed.
