TinyGo is a project to bring the Go programming language to microcontrollers
and modern web browsers by creating a new compiler based on LLVM. You can
compile and run TinyGo programs on several different microcontroller boards
such as the BBC micro:bit and the Arduino Uno. TinyGo can also be used to
produce WebAssembly (WASM) code which is very compact in size.
===> The following configuration options are available for tinygo-0.42.0_2:
AVR=off: AVR based processors support
QEMU=off: Install emulators/qemu for Cortex-M targets
SIMAVR=off: Install devel/simavr for AVR targets

devel/tinygo: Update 0.19.0 => 0.42.0, take maintainership
The port has been stuck at 0.19.0 since 2021 and was deprecated on
2026-08-08 along with the other ports pinned to Go 1.25, scheduled for
removal on 2026-09-30. Upstream 0.42.0 supports Go 1.27 and LLVM 22, so
the pin goes away and with it the reason for the deprecation.
Upstream renamed Makefile to GNUmakefile, dropped the git rev-parse call
and ships the submodule marker files the build checks for, so
files/patch-Makefile is no longer needed at all and the port now builds
unpatched. wasm-opt is taken from devel/binaryen rather than built from
the bundled copy, and build/release no longer produces a pkg directory.
The bundled LLVM is now a fork of llvm-project carrying the Xtensa
backend, pinned by the commit recorded in llvm-version.txt. Keeping it

various: Deprecate ports pinned to Go 1.25
Go 1.25 is approaching end-of-life. Ports that don't build with 1.26
or newer should be updated, or we will have to remove them when we
drop lang/go125 in September.
devel/tinygo: Unmark BROKEN for now
As pointed out by des in the PR referenced below, tinygo isn't broken
yet; it's going to be broken soon (when Go 1.25 leaves the tree), but
does build now.
PR: 297237
devel/tinygo: Restrict to Go 1.25 and mark BROKEN
This port has not been updated in years, and the current port version is
incompatible with Go 1.26+. Go 1.26 will become the minimum supported Go
version very soon.
Unless someone adopts this port (the fact that it's so stale suggests
that interest is probably quite low) this port should exit the stage
when Go 1.25 does.

go: Bump go124-dependent ports
Earlier I bumped the default Go to 1.24. Ports that specify a lower
version will still build with those lower version (for now), so they
don't need a bumping. Instead I'm bumping anything that (now) has go124
as a dependency.

Remove WWW entries moved into port Makefiles
Commit b7f05445c00f has added WWW entries to port Makefiles based on
WWW: lines in pkg-descr files.
This commit removes the WWW: lines of moved-over URLs from these
pkg-descr files.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles
It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.
Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.
There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.

Mk/Uses/ninja.mk: Add support for devel/samurai (D29353)
Samurai is a Ninja-compatible build tool with fewer dependencies
than Ninja. Hook it to the framework via a new NINJA_DEFAULT.
This also adds %p to NINJA_STATUS to make Ninja or Samurai print
the percentage of completed jobs to make it easier to eyeball how
much of the build is done.

devel/tinygo: Add explicit Python build dependency (D29353)
This unbreaks the build when using devel/samurai.
It previously got it through ninja which has a run dependency on
Python.
