Condor is a open-source, specialized workload management system for
compute-intensive jobs. Like other full-featured batch systems, Condor
provides a job queueing mechanism, scheduling policy, priority scheme,
resource monitoring, and resource management. Users submit their serial

when and where to run the jobs based upon a policy, carefully monitors

task spooler is a Unix batch system where the tasks spooled run one
after the other. Each user in each system has his own job queue. The
tasks are run in the correct context (that of enqueue) from any
shell/process, and its output/results can be easily watched. It is
very useful when you know that your commands depend on a lot of RAM,
a lot of disk use, give a lot of output, or for whatever reason it's
better not to run them at the same time.

The xfce4-places-plugin brings much of the functionality of the GNOME Places
menu to Xfce. The plugin looks a lot like a launcher with multiple items in a
menu. The main "launcher" button opens up Thunar at the user's home directory.
The arrow button opens up a menu with two sections: system- and user-defined
locations. The system-defined locations are consistent with Thunar (including
their icons). For user-defined bookmarks, the ~/.gtk-bookmarks file is being
read in order to share bookmarks with Thunar, Nautilus, the GNOME Panel, etc.

This will act on any cronfile it is pointed at. For it to run the command,
the last or next time it will be will have to be within a minute and 15
seconds. For most usages, you will want to have the hour and minute set
to *. This allows a user to do something how ever many times they want any
time during the period it is active.
After running through every entry in the crontab, it then exits.
Why not cron?
You can have cron open opera or the like on a specific display by either
switch or enviromental options, but it will always open it. This allows
you to open it any time along the point it is active.

portscout is a tool which looks for new versions of software in the
FreeBSD ports tree, and potentially other software repositories.
Various factors make this task a bit more difficult than it might
initially seem. In particular, the array of weird and wonderful
versioning schemes software vendors manage to come up with.
portscout spawns several child processes and does its version checking
in parallel, while attempting to best-guess strange-looking version
numbers, navigate around unhelpful sites and web servers, and contend
with the CPU-heavy rapidly-expanding FreeBSD ports system.
In addition to all this, it is possible to generate nice HTML reports
and send reminder mails to interested parties.

EncFS is an encrypted pass-through filesystem which runs in userspace,
using the FUSE kernel module. Similar in design to CFS and other
pass-through filesystems, all data is encrypted and stored in the

The EventLog library aims to be a replacement of the simple syslog() API
provided on UNIX systems. The major difference between EventLog and syslog
is that EventLog tries to add structure to messages.
Where you had a simple non-structrured string in syslog() you have a
combination of description and tag/value pairs.
EventLog provides an interface to build, format and output an event record.
The exact format and output method can be customized by the administrator
via a configuration file.

Add geomgui 0.12
Geomgui is a viewer for the geom layer in the kernel written in C.
It can show the geom layout on the host computer or fetch info from
a remote system via ssh. It has the same arrow key bindings as fx, vi,
(h,j,k and l)and uses z to soom out and Z to zoom in, u is for updating.

TORQUE is an open source resource manager providing control over
batch jobs and distributed compute nodes. It is a community effort
based on the original *PBS project and, with more than 1,200 patches,

The dvdisaster project:
dvdisaster provides a margin of safety against data loss on CD and DVD media
caused by aging or scratches.
* dvdisaster creates error correction data to compensate read errors which
are not correctable in the CD/DVD drive.
* dvdisaster tries to read as much data as possible from defective media.
Afterwards unreadable sectors are recovered using the previously created
error correction data. The maximum error correction capacity is
user-selectable.
* dvdisaster operates at the image level and does not depend on the file
system.
If you create the error correction data in time and keep it at a safe place,
you have a good chance of recovering the medium contents from typical read
errors and to transfer your complete data onto a new medium.

LSI Logic MegaRAID Megamgr Release
This is the Linux console based management utility for the LSI
MegaRAID family of controllers.
FreeBSD >= 6.1 supports running this tool by the means of the
amr_linux.ko kernel module and the /dev/megadev0 device.

TimeMon gives a graphical representation of where the CPU cycles
are going. It's coarse, but better than nothing. The best feature
is that it runs in an icon on your dock, so that you never lose it.

Battmond is a small daemon monitoring the battery level on ACPI-enabled
(laptop) computers, by probing the ACPI device on regular intervals. It
can warn you (through syslog) when the battery level is running low, and
halt the system when it drops below a critical level threshold.
