Why was the website so slow for so long?

The cause of the slowdown was a change to the ZFS dataset. In conjunction with the database server, very little caching was being done. This combination resulted in increased disk I/O as the system churned through the database. Details in the blog post which outlines the various things which changed. Many graphs.

    Affects: */py*
    Author: mat@FreeBSD.org
    Reason:
      Ports using Python via USES=python are now flavored. All the py3-* ports
      have been removed and folded into their py-* master ports.

      People using Poudriere 3.2+ and binary packages do not have to do anything.

      For other people, to build the Python 3.6 version of, for example,
      databases/py-gdbm, you need to run:

        # make FLAVOR=py36 install

[NEW] www/py-flask-babelex: Support i18n/l10n in Flask applications

This is fork of official Flask-Babel extension with following features:

  - Possible to use multiple language catalogs in one Flask application;
  - Localization domains: your extension can package localization file(s)
    and use them if necessary;
  - Does not reload localizations for each request.
