Calibre is meant to be a complete e-library solution and thus includes
library management, format conversion, news feeds to ebook conversion,
as well as e-book reader sync features and an integrated e-book viewer.
To talk to USB and MTP devices the user needs to be able to access
the device node in /dev.
to be aware of USB devices attached to the machine, the user needs
to be a member of the operator group:
# pw groupmod operator -m yourusername
Then, add the following to /etc/devfs.rules, or create this file
if it does not exist yet:
[system=10]
add path 'usb/*' mode 0660 group operator
To load these new rules, add the following to /etc/rc.conf:
devfs_system_ruleset="system"
Then, restart devfs
# service devfs restart
---
If you are using an Android device as your e-book reader, please note
that the stock Google Books app uses a storage format that is not
supported by calibre. The calibre FAQ recommends that either of the
free apps Aldiko or WordPlayer are used instead.

A basic startup script for calibre-server has been installed.
It can be customized and configured using the flags described in
the headers of the startup script. The calibre_user and calibre_library
variables need to be configured to point to a library and the user
with write access to it. For example the user you usually run calibre
on the desktop as.
The command line options are documented here:

*/*: switch dependency from devel/py-lxml5 to devel/py-lxml
Currently, there are two versions of python XML processing library
which conflict each other in the ports tree, namely:
- devel/py-lxml5 (now at version 5.4.0)
- devel/py-lxml (now at version 6.0.1)
To avoid the situation that some ports depend on py-lxml5 and some
others do on py-lxml (by switching dependencies individually), this
commit switches the dependencies from py-lxml5 to py-lxml at once.
Additional note: There are still two ports (textproc/py-rdflib and
www/py-draftjs-exporter) depending on py-lxml5 since they limit upper
version to less than 6.

*/*: update dependency on devel/py-lxml to devel/py-lxml5
www/py-beautifulsoup has switched dependency on devel/py-lxml to
devel/py-lxml5.
Ports which directly or indirectly depends on both
www/py-beautifulsoup and devel/py-lxml must also switch their
dependencies on devel/py-lxml to devel/py-lxml5 to avoid conflicts.

*/*: Remove qtbuilder and sip from RUN_DEPENDS
devel/py-qtbuilder and devel/py-sip should only be used as a
BUILD_DEPENDS. (e.g. USE_PYQT=qtbuilder:build sip:build)
Usually, these are only used to build the PyQt framework, but a few
other ports need them to build. Ports that have them as a BUILD_DEPENDS
unnecessarily haven't been audited yet.
Sip used to be needed for run, but this hasn't been the case for quite
some time. Runtime is provided by the devel/py-qt[56]-sip ports.
(USE_PYQT=pysip). The main PyQt ports provide this automatically, so
it isn't necessary to add it to individual consumers.

deskutils/calibre: Update to 6.12.0
With this release upstream has decided not to include some prebuilt
and bundled parts. So the port now needs to download some extra
files, to be able to compile.
Also while building calibre now needs to launch parts of itself
which creates a temporary directory in LOCALBASE, if it is writable,
so clean that up after the build.
- Use DIST_SUBDIR, since the port is downloading multiple files
now.
- Add new dependencies for things not embedded anymore
- Remove unneeded EXTRACT_BEFORE_ARGS
- Remove references to python2
- Bundle predigested user-agent-data.json file, adding a utility
target to easily regenerate it
- Move from dead upstream textproc/cchardet to drop-in-ready
textproc/py-charset-normalizer [1]
